Classes & Activities

We offer a range of basic to advanced knit and crochet classes with expert instructors for all skill levels:

Baby Surprise Jacket: Jenn will take you through Elizabeth Zimmerman’s classic design. Two 2-hour sessions with Jenn Lewis @ $30 (10:00-12:00 Tuesdays, Feb. 7, 21).

Stashbuster Sweater: Use up your leftover yarn and make beautiful fabric! You will pick either a pullover or a cardigan pattern to knit. Two 2-hour sessions with Kathy Disantis @ $40 (10:30-12:30 Saturdays, Feb. 18, 25).

Reversible Cables: Cables are not difficult to knit, and their intricate-looking textures are intriguing. But when you use them in a scarf or shawl or afghan, the sad fact is that the back of a cable isn’t particularly presentable. Reversible cables look good from the back as well as the front. We’ll learn to do different reversible cables and get a scarf pattern to do. One 2-hour session with Kathy Disantis @ $25 (10:30-12:30 Thursday, Feb. 23).

Learn to Knit Socks: Knitting socks can be addictive! They’re a very portable project and extremely comfortable to wear. The selection of socks yarns is amazing. We’ll make our first socks on a little heavier yarn and then you can use the finer yarns for your next pair. Two 2-hour sessions with Kathy Disantis @ $35 (10:30-12:30 Thursdays, March 1, 15).

What We Learned from Sally Melville: Based on Sally Melville’s design, this class will teach you about color, fit, combining different weight yarns and pattern stitches to create your own one-of-a-kind sweater. One 4-hour and four 2-hour sessions (12

hours total) with Barb Ulery and Jenn Lewis @ $150 (10:00-2:00 Saturday, March 4, and 10:00-12:00 Saturdays, March 17, April 7, 21, May 5).

Entrelac Scarf: If you are new to entrelac and looking for a good pattern to get you started, you’re in luck! This scarf is a quick knit that you’ll be able to complete in no time. It is beautiful in a shaded yarn. One 3-hour session with Kathy Disantis @ $30 (10:30-1:30 Thursday, March 29).

Knitting I: For beginners who want to learn the basic skills of knitting. Four 2-hour sessions with Barb Ulery or Kathy Wise @ $40 (3:30-5:30 Wednesdays, Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29; or 6:00-8:00 Mondays March 5, 12, 19, 26; or 1:30-3:30 Wednesdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28).

Knitting II: The next step after Knitting I to build your skills with the project of your choice. Four 2-hour sessions with Barb Ulery @ $40 (1:30-3:30 Wednesdays, Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22, or 6:00-8:00 Mondays, Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27).

Thursday Knitters: This ongoing group has made a lace afghan together as well as a Celtic tote bag. Their next project will be a sweater. Check and see if you would like to join in the fun. Ongoing 2-hour sessions with Kathy Disantis @ $15 per session (10:30-12:30 Thursdays, Feb. 2, 16, March 8, 22).

Knit with Kathy: This friendly, ongoing group has been getting together for some time to work on various garments and projects. Space is limited to 8 people, so be sure to sign up ahead of time. Monthly

2-hour sessions with Kathy Disantis @ $15 per session (10:15-12:15 Saturdays, Feb. 4, March 10).

Knit with Jenn or Barb: You select a yarn and project to expand your knitting skills. Jenn or Barb will help you through it. Four or five weekly 2-hour sessions @ $40 or $50 per month (10:00-12:00 or 10:30-12:30 or 1:00-3:00 or 6:00-8:00 Mondays, or 10:30-12:30 Wednesdays, or 6:00-8:00 Thursdays).

Learn to Knit Private Lessons: If you don’t see a class that suits your skill level or interest, we’ll be happy to tailor private one-on-one sessions with our expert instructors to your needs. Three weekly 1-hour sessions @ $10 per session (times to be individually scheduled).

Crochet with Donnamarie: For beginning and experienced crocheters. Donnamarie will help with pattern reading and learning new stitches. Biweekly 2-hour sessions @ $10 per session (12:45-2:45 every other Saturday).

Friday Knit & Crochet Club: Sit, visit, and relax with others while working on any of your needlework projects. Offered at no charge, and not an instructional class (11:00-3:00 Fridays).

(A down payment is required at time of registration with the balance due at your first class. Class fees are not refundable, and cover instruction only. Yarn for class projects must be purchased at My Sister's Yarn Shop, and will be discounted by 10%.)
